Aww, TIM. I love how he's really quite complex. They could easily have drawn him as the bumbly, geeky one and they did for a while, but they let him grow. They even let him TALK about growth. So while I may not always agree with where they take him (I do not like it when he's snide, I don't think it fits) I do appreciate the fact that they are aiming to provide some character development.
