What's the point to put the warnings at the end of a fic?

If people don't want to know, why don't just make a spoiler cut?

I sometimes put them at the end with a spoiler link in the header--that way folks can link to the post, not to the cut tag, because really, I do want them to link to the header, and let people make their own choice about whether they need to see warnings.

Not that I've done this often, but I have done it.

Yeah, like that, it works. I just saw a fic with simply warning in the end, and with the summary and the first line in the cut, it was easy to guess character death but readers who want to know have to scroll down the end (when it's a short fic, it's OK, but when it's a long one), and see the end of the story.

And anyway, for this fic, hiding the warning was pointless.

But with the link, it's better.
