My two older cats are outdoors cats, but I always make them come inside the night or when the weather is bad. Or simply when they want.
One, Vanille, is never far, slightly cowardly, doesn't mind staying inside, and comes home as soon as I call.
The other, oldest, Cou Tordu (real name forgotten, I think it was something shockingly original like Doudou), loves being outside. Whatever the weather is. A dog, Labrador size, ran away from her, whining, because he entered our garden.
But it was years ago, and she's old now. She still wants to stay outside, and I let her when I can't catch her because she stays hidden under a car. And it's like that every night since the spring come back.
Sometimes, I throw bit of food at her to lure her close to me and catch her, but she learned the trick now, and she stays under the car, waiting for the food, and never getting too close, so I stopped that.
I'm really sleepy lately, and I wanted to go to bed early tonight. I decided to try to get the cats now, instead of two, three hours later like usually. Vanille at least, I was sure to find, and the other, well, it's a nice night. If I couldn't catch her, I was going to let her outside.
But they were both in front of the door, waiting to enter. Didn't even try to escape. So nice of them to use their mind reading power for good.
